I see these cute jar cozies all over the internet. I have always loved them but I usually don’t have spare jars around to use. Well I bought a jar of peaches at the store a couple weeks ago and when they were gone, I got excited! I finally had a jar to make a cozy.
Here is my lovely jar filled with all my crochet hooks. They’re staying all nice and cozy being surrounded by my two favorite colors
This unfortunately was my second attempt at making one. The first time I just used the wrong yarn and it ended up too big. This one turned out perfect!
I used Vanna’s Choice, which I always use for for little projects like this. All I did was chain 42 to fit the jar then did double crochets in each row. The top row I did tighter single crochets to bring it in a little. It really helped the cozy fit the jar better.
Now my little jar sits on our end table full of crochet hooks. I can walk up and grab whatever I need when I’m in the mood to crochet.
I plan on making another one when I empty our spaghetti jar in the pantry. The jar is a little taller so I can use it for my knitting needles!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! We had fun picking apples, adding a new member (a fish) to our family, making tasty chicken chili and just enjoying the fabulous fall weather.
Oh and of course some football on Sunday. Here are my two Packer fans!
What did you do over the weekend? Did you get to enjoy any craft time?
Love the jar cozy - always a good idea to recycle stuff into something pretty and useful. :)
ReplyDeleteooh! very good idea to do the final round that way :) can't wait to redo my cozy now, and hopefully now it won't pop out the top of the cozy every time I pick it up! Thanks so much for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as crafting this weekend, I didn't get a single thing done :( Hoping today proves more productive, as I've been itching to get my blanket finished!

ReplyDeleteThe yarn color choice on your jar cozy is great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project! My knitting needles are stored in a great handmade piece of pottery, but this would be great for my crochet hooks! Thanks for sharing at Fibers on Friday!!
