{ WIP Wednesday… And a Spring discount! }

Here are my Work In Progress projects this week…

A couple weeks ago I got an email from a nice gal who asked me if I would knit her a hat. I am not an experienced knitter but I thought I would look at the pattern she had and see if I could. It turned out it was a hat made using a technique I have never tried before. Long story short, she is ok with me trying to make the hat for her knowing it may not turn out!

This is a special hat because it is for Autism Awareness. You can buy the pattern here.

Some of the proceeds go towards Autism Awareness

The technique used in this hat is called intarsia. I have seen it done on a video but that’s it. I finally jumped in and got started. I had to make a bunch of little yarn butterflies since it’s special color work using a knitting chart.

It may look like a mess but it is actually very manageable.

I have to admit that I started over once already. I made a mistake I could have avoided if I were paying attention! This is teaching me a lot of patience but I am really enjoying it.

If you want to see what the hat is supposed to look like when it’s done, check out the pattern.

……………

I am also working on two Spring Fling Beanies for a girl in my daughter’s class. I’m making one for her and one for her new baby sister. I love these colors! The one for the baby will be pink with a yellow flower.

……………….

I also wanted to mention that I have giving 15% off in my Etsy shop right now to celebrate Spring! Use coupon code SPRING15.

I will be adding the yellow and pink hats in the shop too!

  1. All those balls of yarn staring at me would totally freak me out, you're very brave for attempting intarsia - it scares the heck out of me! Looking forward to seeing your finished hat.
