We finished Hailey’s first dress! I don’t know how I could have done it with out my mom. This was the first time I made something from a pattern. I thought it was going to be easier than it was. So a big THANK YOU to my mom for guiding me through!
I was nervous just cutting out the fabric!
I definitely mastered sewing in a straight line
I had no idea all of the supplies and knowledge you need to make a “simple” dress. I definitely learned a lot! I hope I can make the next one on my own. There were a couple times we had to pull out the work. Also when I was sewing the hem of the dress, I had some bobbin issues. But we always learn from our mistakes so I can’t complain.
Hailey had fun watching mama
She would yell, “1,2,3 Goooo!” Then I would start up
So are you ready to see the finished dress?? Here it is!
I love how it turned out. Now I am definitely not a pro so it isn’t perfect. But that’s what I like about it! It’s special just for my Hailey Belle
Doesn’t she look thrilled…
Hailey was excited to go outside and play in her new dress
I just love it!
Hopefully I will have the courage to try the second dress on my own. I may look for a different and easier pattern.
Have a great weekend everyone!
pretty, thats one thing i cant do is to sew, but i love to crochet though
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeletethat is so cute!!! i will be pulling out my machine to master the straight stitch this weekend too! :)
ReplyDeletehave you thought about the pillowcase dresses? those are super cute too. good luck on your future dressmaking, you are off to a good start. :)
I love this post. I'm trying to pluck up the courage to sew a dress or a tunic top for myself. Your post is very encouraging! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThis is darling! I played around with sewing my own dress for Emma when she was really little, and it was definitely a learning process (and an intimidating project to take on)! This dress came out great! You may have inspired me to buy a pattern and try it for myself. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf you have time, I'd love for you to pop by this weekend and link up with So Sweet Sundays. ;)
The dress is charming but your daughter is soooo cuuuute....
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Anna

ReplyDeleteWell done!! It's really beautiful, I wouldn't mind making an adult sized one!
ReplyDeleteWhen I made a skirt last weekend I was so thrilled so have it finished, isn't it just brilliant to make something you-can-wear!?
It turned out so cute! And I am partial to the name -I have a little Hailey too!
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! Especially sitting on the couch watching you...great picture!

It is SSSOOO super simple, much easier than any I have sewn from a commercial pattern, and so very easily adaptable for when you have mastered it!!
Very cute little girl and a very nice dress.
