{ WIP Wednesday }

Here are my Work In Progress projects this week…

Well I have plenty to work on as far as crochet and Christmas projects!

First off, I am making some Christmas colored Woman’s Hats. I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet! I am thinking I will just put them in the Etsy shop and see what happens. I just love this red and off white color

IMGP4211 edit

I caught Hailey trying one on last night. I took a quick picture with my cell phone. It is woman’s size but my little one has a big noggin so it fit her well!

…………………….

Next I am making two more ear warmers. I get to make these for my two cousins! One is in college and one is in high school. I guess these are really popular! My cousin Kelly picked out what color she wanted over Thanksgiving. I had to order the yarn online so I can’t work on it right away. She picked a really pretty purple color. I am making this sapphire blue one for her sister. Hers is a surprise.

I love making these! The pattern is fun to follow because every row is different.

**Speaking of this pattern, I have been getting a lot of comments and emails about it. I bought this pattern quite awhile ago on Etsy. The designer no longer sells it. She even had it on Ravelry for awhile but I saw she doesn’t sell it there anymore either.  So I am sorry for those of you who want to try it out!

…………………

Lastly, I get to make three awesome sock monkey hats! I get to make a boy and a girl one for my niece and nephew for Christmas gifts. I will be using grey with pink and grey with light blue for theirs. Then also I get to make one for my friend Libby’s sweet little boy Noah!  She picked out a pretty off white color for hers. I can’t wait to make these! I have a feeling Hailey will end up with one eventually.

I made this one for my older nephew last year. Now him and his brother and sister will all have one after Christmas! (Hailey was just trying it on)

IMGP2194 edit

I also have some other projects I hope to try when I get some orders done. I've got so many Christmas ideas or projects I don’t know if I will be able to do them all! That’s ok though, there’s always next year. I refuse to get overwhelmed and stressed with Christmas stuff.

Have a great day everyone

Easy Peasy Woman’s Winter Hat {Pattern}

IMGP3930

This hat is really easy! I am happy to share the pattern with you guys. It’s a perfect time of year to start making some warmer hats. I also think it’s great to have a pattern for the ladies since the internet seems to be taken over by children’s hat patterns.

Smile

Materials:

Bulky #5 yarn in any fiber you choose. (I used Loops & Threads Charisma from Michael’s and LOVED it)

6.5 - 7 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Yarn or Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations:

sl: Slip Stitch

sc: Single Crochet

dc: Double Crochet

ch: Chain

st: Stitch

sts: Stitches

Gauge: 9 sts x 6.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm

Note: At the beginning of each round, you will chain 3. This counts as your first double crochet. At the end of each round, slip stitch in chain 3 to join

Hat:
To begin, Ch 5 and join into a ring with a sl st in first ch. You can also do a magic ring here, which I did.

Round 1: 12 dc in ring.

Round 2: Ch3, 1dc in same stitch as ch3 from previous row, 2 dc in each  st around. Sl to join (24 dc.)

Round 3: Ch3, 2dc in next st, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in the next st*, repeat *-*. Sl to join (36 dc.)

Round 4: Ch3, 1 dc in next st, 2dc in next. *1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st*, repeat *-*. Sl to join (48 dc.)

*After round 4, the piece measures approx. 14 cm in diameter. This is a great place to make sure you’re on track for sizing

Rows 5-11 dc in each st around, sl to join. (48 dc.)

At this point you may want to try it on to see if you are ok with the height. If you want it longer just add another round.

Row 12: Ch1, sc in each st around. Sl in chain1 space to join. (48 sc.)

Fasten off and weave in ends. If you want a invisible, clean and nice looking way to finish off, click here! I started doing this and it makes a huge difference.

When you’re done with the hat you can leave it like it is or add your favorite flower

I love my hat. I get excited to leave the house just so I can wear it!

IMGP4151 edit

I never have anyone around to take a picture of me when there is good lighting so I did my own with the ole, cell- phone- in- the- bathroom- mirror trick. Oh and the thumbs up… well I’m just a big nerd. So I have no explanation besides that

Photo10261702

I wish I could share the pattern for the flower I made (which I use on a lot of my hats) but it is not my pattern. There are a lot of great free flower patterns out there so I’m sure you can find a good one. What also might look cute is a couple cool buttons.

This hat can also be made for a man. I made one with Green Bay Packers colors for my hubby and it looks really nice! You can try to use the same pattern if the man you’re making it for has a smaller head. I added one more row of increasing so that it would work for my husband.

I hope you all like the pattern! Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Winter Gear

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.

I am happy to say I finished my knitted scarf! It isn’t as long as it should be but I was getting impatient. I did actually enjoy making it. It was good practice for knitting and also helped me follow a pattern.

This scarf is called the Brisbane Scarf from Lion Brand. I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn and the color is wheat. It’s really thick, cozy and warm! I can’t wait to wear it. Well kind of… When I wear it I am guessing the temperature will be freezing cold and I will be plowing the driveway

IMGP4147 edit

At least I get to wear my warm hat! I love this hat. I may have to share the pattern. It’s so easy and fast. You may want to have some soft and bulky yarn prepared if you want to make it.

Smile

IMGP4151 edit

Speaking of keeping warm, I think some cups of coffee will be nice and toasty in these Java Jackets!

IMGP4139 edit

I loved making these for my mother-in-law’s coworkers. I think the colors they chose are awesome! I hope they like them

Smile

In other news, I started another knitting project. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking when I did. This project is going to be hard and way too advanced for me. BUT I am going to do my best. I’ll show you on Wednesday. Any guesses?

I am brainstorming some Christmas gift ideas for some people. I don’t want to crochet something for everyone since that will be a lot of work. But I am stumped on something. My nephew, who is 11 years old, needs a gift. I want to crochet him something but I have no clue what kids his age (and gender) like. I am crocheting something for his younger brother and sister so that’s why I want to crochet something for him too. Any suggestions? If you have any ideas I would love to hear them!

Well that’s all for now. I have been sick for about a week now with an annoying cold. So I apologize to anyone who has emailed me or commented since I probably haven’t responded. I will try to respond today or tomorrow!

~Have a great Monday my crochet buddies~

{ WIP Wednesday }

Here are my Work In Progress projects this week…

I just got an order in the mail for some Java Jackets from my mother-in-law’s work friends. They saw her Java. Jacket and wanted some too! They picked some really fun colors and are adding a flowers to each one. I love the flower!

Yes this picture is totally staged

IMGP4069 edit

I get to use all of these lovely colors

IMGP4116 edit

I am also onto another Tunisian square. This one is the ribbed pattern. I really like the pattern but I also love working with one of my favorite colors

Smile

IMGP4076 edit

That’s all for now! When I am done with the Java Jackets I’m going to finish my knitted scarf. Then I can show off my winter wear!

Squares

I now feel like my Tunisian Crochet Blanket is starting to come along! I have 11 (almost 12) squares done and I have to make a total of 36. I am loving this pattern and all the fun Tunisian crochet stitches. Each square is unique. I also LOVE the colors and how well they go together.

This weekend I got five squares done, which is a lot! If I could sit and work through the day, I could probably get three or four done a day. But of course I can’t do that.

IMGP4039 edit

I can’t wait to finish this blanket! I have learned when making a blanket, you must have patience.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Did you get any crafting done?

Yarn Love

Hey everyone! First off, I don’t have anything new or exciting to show you. I have been feeling a little under the weather. It’s actually ok though because I have been working on my knitted scarf! I figured I should get going on it since it could snow and get cold here very soon. I can’t wait to use it!

What I wanted to post about was some yarn love. Remember this yarn I got?

IMGP3923 edit

Well I got a couple people asking about it and where I got it. I thought I would share with you since it’s actually a great deal.

I heard about it through another blog. I bought it online from a website called Deramores. This yarn is called Stylecraft Special DK. It’s 100% acrylic and really soft. I still haven’t started making anything with it but I will soon!

I didn’t pick out these lovely colors. What is awesome is they came in a color pack! I am bad at picking out colors so this was perfect for me. What is also great is you get free shipping to the United States! I just couldn’t help myself and I had to buy it. The total came to about $40 (US) for 17 balls of yarn. Not bad!

If you want to buy the pack click here

That’s all I have for now friends. Have a great Thursday!

Orders and New Patterns

I’ve been a little occupied with some orders I have gotten. I really like doing orders and getting the business but… I get a little sad when I don’t have time to do the stuff I love to work on. Like my blanket or scarf. Again I am so thankful and happy to have these orders. I enjoy making the items for friends, family or new customers. There’s no stress involved, except maybe when the yarn store is out of the color I need or I have to start completely over on something because I made a mistake. Yeah those both happened with my current orders.

Want to see what I made? This stuff isn’t in the shop and some of the things I was making for the first time. New patterns are always fun and a nice change. What’s also great is I get more ideas for things to add to the Etsy shop.

-Earflap hats for my friend Rachel’s daughters. I love how she used to same colors but mixed them up so they weren’t exactly the same.

IMGP3973 edit

IMGP3974 edit

I snuck a couple pictures of Hailey wearing it. Smile

IMGP3975 edit

IMGP3976 edit

-I also made a headband/ear warmer for Rachel. These seem to be really popular right now. I had never made one of these before but it is so cute! I may have to make one for myself.

IMGP3985 edit

IMGP3986 edit

IMGP3988 edit

Lastly, I finished all of the hats and flower clips for Leanne. She wanted to be able to switch her flowers around with each hat so I put them all on alligator clips. They work out really well. Again, I may have to make one of these for myself as well. Smile

IMGP4006 edit

I’m debating if I should put these hair clips in the shop… We’ll see

IMGP4016 edit crop

I may have to make them a little smaller

IMGP4019 edit

This isn’t an order but I found this hat I made last year. It used to be listed in the Etsy shop but I didn’t relist it this year. Anyway, I let Hailey have it! She loves it

IMGP3978 edit  IMGP3981 edit

Alright I’m done! I like to document new projects and orders I have so feel free to ignore this post.

Have a great day my crochet buddies
