I’m working on the border of the granny stripe blanket, finally. I promise it will be more than a green border.

I will be honest and say these last couple days I have been feeling blah so I haven’t done as much crocheting as I wanted to. So all this progress is from the weekend.

…………………………….

I also have been slowly working on sewing another dress. This one I have been doing completely on my own and it’s been difficult. But I am also learning as I go. I am determined to finish! My hubby asks me if I am even enjoying it when I have struggles. I say yes because I think it’s fun working things out and learning from my mistakes. Patience is very important

Side note: If you’re curious, that is a Fat Head poster behind there on the wall. It’s Aaron Rogers from the Green Bay Packers. We’re big fans. In fact, a lot of our basement is decorated with Packers stuff.

Smile

That’s all for now my friends. I can’t wait to show you some finished projects!

Stitch Diagrams

Have you ever used a stitch diagram when crocheting? I used one for the first time when I made my friend's baby blanket. The pattern came with written instructions as well but I wanted to try the diagram for fun. It was very basic but great to start with.

A stitch diagram is made up of symbols that represent each stitch in crocheting. Here are the basic symbols you will see in a pattern.

Tip: To tell a double crochet from a treble crochet, just count the slash marks in the symbol. If there is one, that means you yarn over once which would be a double crochet.

When reading a diagram, they will either tell you the place to start or like in the pattern above, you start in the middle and work your way out.

So would you like to try reading one? I found this simple flower stitch pattern for you Smile

Stitch diagrams can be something simple like this flower or something more complicated like a big doily or a blanket.

Either way, if you pay attention to what you are making you will be able to tell if you make a mistake. That’s what I like is that it’s all visual. I can compare my work and look for errors.

I will admit that I was very intimidated by them at first. But the more I looked at it and tried it, the more I understood. I always like taking on a new crochet challenge. Now I love stich diagrams! I think they are easier to read than a wordy written out pattern. Of course I still use those all the time. But if I stumble upon a pattern with both, I try the diagram first.

Next time you find a pattern with a stitch diagram, I urge you to give it a try!

Nothing New and a Survey

Well folks, I wish I had some pictures to show you of some WIP projects today. I have plenty of projects I’m working on but they’re all the same as last week. At this point I want to hold off on showing anymore progress of the granny stripe blanket until in it’s done. Oh and thank you everyone for your border and color suggestions! I think I am going to do the blue, which a lot of you said.

Since I have nothing new to show you, how about I share some more Pinterest finds!

So I want to post things that will benefit and help all my lovely readers. I hope to maybe write a tutorial for something in the future but I’m not sure for what. Also if you have any suggestions, feel free to comment your thoughts!

Thanks so much everyone

Making Dress #1

We finished Hailey’s first dress! I don’t know how I could have done it with out my mom. This was the first time I made something from a pattern. I thought it was going to be easier than it was. So a big THANK YOU to my mom for guiding me through!

I was nervous just cutting out the fabric!

I definitely mastered sewing in a straight line Smile

I had no idea all of the supplies and knowledge you need to make a “simple” dress. I definitely learned a lot! I hope I can make the next one on my own. There were a couple times we had to pull out the work. Also when I was sewing the hem of the dress, I had some bobbin issues. But we always learn from our mistakes so I can’t complain.

Hailey had fun watching mama Smile

She would yell, “1,2,3 Goooo!” Then I would start up

So are you ready to see the finished dress?? Here it is!

I love how it turned out. Now I am definitely not a pro so it isn’t perfect. But that’s what I like about it! It’s special just for my Hailey Belle

Doesn’t she look thrilled…

I just love it!

Hopefully I will have the courage to try the second dress on my own. I may look for a different and easier pattern.

Have a great weekend everyone!

{ WIP Wednesday }

Here are my Work In Progress projects this week…

I got my yarn for Tunisian Throw I am going to make! Isn’t is lovely?

IMGP3193 edit

I already started on one square and it’s been slow getting into Tunisian crochet mode. I had only tried it one other time before this so I almost felt like it was new to me. After the second row it felt better and I am slowly picking up speed.

IMGP3186 edit

……………………………..

Of course I am still working on the granny stripe blanket. I am past the squares so it should go a lot faster now. I am still unsure what color and kind of border I will do. Any suggestions?

 Smile

……………………………..

My mom is visiting this week and we decided to do some sewing! We went and got fabric and supplies on Monday and today we are going get started.

Here is the fabric I chose…

IMGP3192 edit

I’ll be making a pillow for our living room with the green fabric and the other two will be made into dresses for Hailey. I’m so excited! Hopefully by Friday I’ll have at least one finished project to show you.

……………………………..

Last but not least, I had my mom pick out some yarn so I could make her a pair of slippers to match Hailey’s and mine. I love the colors she chose!
