Green

I have come to a realization that my favorite color is green. I have been drawn to different types of green for awhile now. I would love to someday decorate a room in our house with some warm green colors.

Here are some things I have found on Pinterest for inspiration…

I would LOVE to have a kitchen like this someday. I really like the green cabinets with the pale yellow backsplash.

Looking at all these pictures, I could decorate a whole house in green! I don’t think I could ever use that much green.

So what color inspires you?

Here is my Work In Progress project this week

Right now I am just working on my granny stripe blanket. I love how it is looking!

IMGP2988 edit

I ran into a little issue…I ran out of white yarn! I was really close to the end when I needed to switch to another color but I couldn’t make it. And now I can’t work on until the yarn I ordered comes tomorrow.

I order a lot of my yarn from Fabric.com because the prices are awesome! You also can get free shipping if you spend $35 or more, which isn’t difficult. This Vanna’s Choice Baby I am using is literally $1 less than at Michael's.

IMGP2990 edit

I was so close!

IMGP2991 edit writing

It was quite the bummer. And now that this happened, I want to work on it even more. So I am looking forward to tomorrow when a box full of yarn love shows up at my door.

Has this ever happened to any of you? If it has, I feel your pain.

Framed Flowers

Yesterday I finally did a project I have wanted to do for awhile. I framed some flowers to put in my daughter Hailey’s room! A while back I saw Sandra from Diary of a Stay at Home Mom crochet and frame some cute flowers and I thought it was a great idea. I wasn’t a huge fan of the flower pattern she used and I ended up forgetting about the project.

One day when I was crocheting a set of coasters, I noticed if I left the edging off the coaster, the flower was really cute. I made a mental note and moved on.

I finally put the ideas together and got this!

IMGP2955 edit

I already had the frames and kind of just hoped for the best when I put the flowers in there. They fit just right!

IMGP2957 edit  IMGP2958 edit

I hung one on either side of the window in Hailey’s room. I love how they look. It’s simple but brings a little more color to the room.

IMGP2968 edit

Hailey’s room is almost done being decorated. My last project is to sew some simple pink curtains.

Here is another wall in her room

IMGP2973 edit

The letters were made by my good friend Rachel. Aren’t they adorable? Hailey likes to look at them and spell out her name.

That’s all for now! Happy crocheting

{ WIP Wednesday }

Here are my Work In Progress projects this week

I’m still working on my friend Jess’ baby blanket. I had extra yarn so I thought I would just keep going and make it a little bigger. Oh and she loved the curtains! She sent me a picture and they looks so cute in the baby room.

Next I am excited to show you, I started a granny stripe blanket! I am making it for Miss Hailey in some really fun colors.

IMGP2950 edit

This project has been nice and relaxing. I can always come back to it when I want to get in some crochet time. I know this will take me quite awhile to make, but I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

IMGP2951 edit

I am using bright and fun girly colors that match Hailey’s room.

IMGP2952 edit

I’m finally using my crochet bag again! I am keeping the blanket and all the yarn in there so it’s all together. I noticed for my other projects recently I have been using plastic bags or a Michael's reusable bag. I’m glad to be back to the good ole crochet bag again

A Great Weekend and a Great Gift

We had such a great weekend in Minnesota. We went to there so I could help my mom throw a baby shower for my good friend Justine. She is due August 1st so she should have her little one very soon!

Here are some pictures from the shower

I had to make her some cute fat birdies, including a little egg for their baby girl.

This punch was awesome! I think it was a mixture of juice, 7 up and sherbet ice cream. It was definitely a hit

Also she loved her baby blanket! I was so happy to make that for her sweet baby girl.

My mom made these paper birdies and gave them to everyone at the party. They had to write some type of baby advice Justine and her husband. Then they all hung them on the tree. My mom is so creative

It was so nice being able to do the baby shower for her. Justine and her mom threw an amazing baby shower for me when I was pregnant. They even threw a “man shower” for Kyle, which involved a trip to Dave & Busters and some Rock Band playing. Each guy had to bring a pack of diapers, which ended up lasting us at least 3 months!

Ok moving on…

My mom got me one of the coolest gifts I had gotten in awhile. She got me these beautiful wooden knitting needles! I was amazed. I have always wanted a pair of wooden needles but they always seem too pricey for me.

IMGP2931 edit  IMGP2935 edit

I was so excited! And yes you’re reading the price right, they were just $5.00

My mom got these at a store called Art 2 Heart in Minnesota that has a bunch of handmade items, including some of my mom’s stuff. All of their earnings go to some great Christian ministries. How cool is that?

Abba’s House is one of the ministries they donate to. Above is a message from a girl who was helped through Abba’s House.

IMGP2940 edit

I can’t wait to try these knitting needles out. I feel like I should make something really special with them

Lastly, I’ll leave you with a picture of my little book worm Smile

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Congratulations to Keri from Wooderson Family Blog!!

This is a GREAT giveaway and I hope you have more like it for those of us who probably won't win. But I'll jump at the chance, regardless.
I literally just started crocheting and am learning as I go. I originally started planning on making things for my daughter (6 mos) but am interested in more than that, now. I have only made a scarf and hat for her with a hideous (sp?) flower. And a scarf and hat for me. I'm planning on make different things.

Keri I hope this book can help you keep going on your crochet journey

Thank you everyone for entering. I hope to do another one sometime. It’s so fun sharing the crochet love with others!

::Giveaway::

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for your entries!

It’s time to present to you my first giveaway at Crocheting the Day Away! I really want to do this as a thank you to all of you readers. I love every one of your sweet comments. I wish I could give something to everyone, but I can’t. Maybe I’ll try to do another giveaway in the future.

I went to Michaels on the hunt for some goodies for the giveaway. Of course there is always tons of yarn and great crochet hooks and gadgets to see. I didn’t know where to start!

What I have for one lucky winner is what I would call, “The Beginner Crochet Package".”

IMGP2878 edit

Includes…

- A beginners guide on how to crochet

- Two balls of Vanna’s Choice Baby yarn in pink and green

- 3 pack of crochet hooks (4.25 mm, 5 mm, and 5.5 mm)

For those who aren’t beginners, this is just your chance to get some more yarn, hooks and patterns to add to your collection! I personally think you can never have to much. Smile

This beginner’s guide is awesome. It has detailed instructions with pictures on how to do each stitch. It also has information on how to choose yarn, what supplies you should have, and other great tips.

IMGP2881 edit

It also has a bunch of great patterns! Including how to crochet the basic granny square.

IMGP2887 edit

IMGP2883 edit

Don’t feel intimidated about learning from a book. I think this is the perfect book to guide you through. It’s also great because you can bring it with you anywhere.

For the yarn, I chose two bright and fun colors for you to practice with. Vanna’s Choice is a great yarn with a ton of colors to choose from.

IMGP2889 edit

This pack of hooks is great for first starting out. You’ll see that a lot of basic patterns tend to use these sizes.
