Nothing New

I’m sorry I haven’t been blogging much! I haven’t really been doing any fun new projects. I plan on doing more in the future. I have some ideas for new things to add to the shop for the summer.

Over the weekend I worked on my friend’s baby blanket, which I am loving! It is so soft and cuddly. I am going to add a couple more rows to make it a little bigger, then it’s on to the border. I’m not positive what I’m going to do yet but I will be using white and green. I can’t wait to see it finished!

I also worked on some orders from the Etsy shop

IMGP2580 edit

And practiced knitting cables on my little practice swatch

IMGP2585 edit

I am excited because the weather is beautiful here today so I plan on getting outside to take some pictures of Hailey in her little cardigan.Smile

I did also organize my yarn stash as best I could over the weekend. I think I may need to get rid of some of it. It’s just way too much. Yeah it’s nice to have if I want to make a random project, but it just takes up too much space. What is a good way to get rid of yarn? Should I sell it? Give it away?

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Knitting Love

I am actually starting to get the hang of this continental knitting! I’m really enjoying it. Of course I’ll never enjoy it more than crocheting!

Now that I am feeling more comfortable with the knitting needles, I feel ready to try a project. I have made a scarf but that was pretty simple.

Here are some patterns I have been looking at. Which one do you think I should try??

Some of the items are obviously more for winter but that’s ok.

I like them all! Some are definitely easier than others. So what do you think?

In crocheting news, I am still working on a baby blanket. I want to take pictures of Hailey’s cardigan but the weather has been cloudy and rainy this week so the lighting isn’t the best. I can’t wait to show you how it turned out!

I hope everyone is staying safe with all this nasty weather and horrible tornados. All of the people effected by the tornados are in my prayers

Have a great Wednesday everyone

{ W.I.P Wednesday }

Here is my Work In Progress projects right now

Well folks, I put the Square a day on hold. I saw this cardigan in one of my pattern books and just had to try it.

I am so excited for Hailey to be able to wear this! This is the first time I have ever crocheted something for Hailey to actually wear besides hats.

IMGP2536_thumb[2]

I have a couple more rows on the body to finish then I go back and finish the sleeves. This pattern is awesome and so easy!

I got it from this book

Her patterns are so cute!

I have also been practicing my knitting. If you remember, I have been struggling with how to hold the needles and it was just awkward. I decided to just take some yarn and practice the continental knitting. It’s so much easier! Since I started with crocheting, continental is perfect.

So here is my little swatch I have been making. It’s kind of pathetic looking Smile

IMGP2539_thumb[9]

I’ve been doing mostly knit stiches but I throw in a couple rows of pearl stitches, which I am having the most trouble with. Slowly though I am getting the hang of it and going a little faster. I’m excited to knit something fun for Hailey.

{ Square a Day – May 9th }

Here’s the lovely square for May 9th! I just realized I skipped May 8th

IMGP2504 edit

I definitely changed the pattern after probably the 7th round. I just wasn’t a fan of the original pattern. So I just did some random stiches, including stitching in the back loop for one round. I like the look it gives the square with the neat raised line going around. Just like the square from May 3rd

IMGP2506 edit

I found some more white yarn in my stash so I’ll be using it a little more. I love how it can really brighten the square.

On to square #10!

{ W.I.P Wednesday }

Here is my Work In Progress projects right now

I’m working on a really soft and cuddly baby blanket for my friend Justine. She is due in early August with a baby girl. She is so excited to be having a little girl. She’ll have a lot of fun. I’m also excited because my mom and I get to throw a baby shower for her in July!

This blanket is really easy. I will add a white and green border when it’s done.

IMGP2497 edit

I am also slowly working on the Square a Day project. I am in the middle of Day # 8.

IMGP2502 edit

That’s all for now!

{ Square a Day – May 7th }

Here is the square for May 7th! I love this square. I thought the heart might be difficult but I had no problems. Hailey really likes the colors. She’s been taking all my finished squares and laying them out on the floor.

Falling Behind

Well I had a feeling this would happen. We’ve been busy recently which has not given me much time to crochet. I may be skipping a couple Square a Day squares to catch up. Not just because I’m behind but also because I will honestly say I am not a fan of every square. I don’t really want to make one that I won’t like in the finished blanket. Also these squares require a lot of yarn after awhile. A couple weeks ago I had decided to not buy anymore yarn for awhile unless it was for orders. So we’ll see what happens. I will finish the square I am in the middle of right now (which is day 7) and then continue from there.

I don’t feel bad about this but I’m more bummed that I just don’t have the time that I thought I would have. But I’m not giving up! I will just go at my own pace and get creative with yarn I already have.

I also want to say thank you for all the great comments on my squares! It has been a lot of fun seeing everyone’s different color combinations.

Have a great Monday everyone

IMGP2464 edit

I may need to do some different color combinations for the next one. I love these colors but I need a change for a bit.

{ Square a Day – May 4th }

Here is day #4 of A Square a Day in May! Yes I am a day late but I might be able to catch up with square #5 today.

This was a another really fun square. I loved the design and pattern. Very easy!

IMGP2459 edit

IMGP2460 edit

I can’t wait for these to be made into a blanket! I think Hailey will love it

IMGP2461 edit

Some little hands made it in the picture Smile

IMGP2462 edit

I have a confession to make… I have not sewn in my ends on any of my squares. Phew ok I said it! I think I’ll regret this at the end

Happy Thursday Folks!

{Square a Day – May 3rd}

I love love love this square! It was really easy and fun to make. I also think The Crochet Dude is awesome. Who happens to be the designer of this pattern. I have seen him many times on the knit and crochet show called Knit and Crochet Now. Yeah I have the DVDs so I’m a dork

Here is square #3!

IMGP2455 edit

IMGP2454 edit

I like that he did single crochets in the back loop. It gave it more texture and a neat look

IMGP2457 edit

I’m still hanging in there! I am posting this at 10:35 at night but that’s ok. It’s still May 3rd! I’m a little nervous about getting tomorrow’s done since I’ve got a busy day. I’ll just really have to take advantage of nap time. Smile

Have a good night!

The next couple days are going to be busy for us so I hope I can stay caught up with the squares. I’m having a lot of fun trying the new patterns.

New Hats!

I just wanted to show you two new hats I put in the Etsy shop! Well I shouldn’t say new hats. More like new colors.

I will hopefully get a couple more color combinations in soon. I love laying out my yarn and matching different combinations. They seem endless!

Ending with a sneak peak at my square for today. I hope I can get it done before the sun goes down so I can get a good picture Smile
