Random {Crochet} Thoughts

I have to say it… I wish I could crochet ALL day! It’s actually one of those things I think about all the time. When I go to bed I get excited thinking of what I will crochet the next day. (Yeah I think that makes me a big dork) The hard part though is I don’t usually get a lot done.

I have been sick since Friday and have just been wiped out. Taking care of a 2 year old makes it even harder to get better. What I’m getting at is that I wish I didn’t have to keep putting crocheting on the back burner. I have so many things I want to make. I also want to give my Etsy shop a good makeover.

Speaking of makeover… I made a decision to switch what brand of yarn I am using for the beanie hats I make. The stuff I used to use was frustrating me. I was using the Sugar & Cream 100% cotton yarn. I liked it because there were so many colors to choose from. As I made more and more hats I notice some things about the yarn that to me didn’t make it a good quality. It was fraying (spelling?) and I also felt like it wasn’t very soft. At least not compared to other cotton yarn I have felt.

I do still plan on using Sugar & Cream on other projects

I tried Lion Brand Cotton Ease but it wasn’t right for the beanies. I had been to Michael's and Joanne Fabrics and was having no luck with cotton yarns. At least ones that would be soft enough or thick enough for a hat. Finally I made a trip to Hobby Lobby. I found the perfect yarn! It’s the Hobby Lobby brand called I Love This Cotton. It’s so soft and well, perfect! I ended up making two hats out of it for a blogger friend who is going to do a review/giveaway on her blog. Just another reason I wanted a good quality yarn.

So now that I have vented and typed out my thoughts, I am even more motivated to crochet! My little one is napping right now so I am going to try to get in some good “hooky time”.

Guess what I’ll be making? A whole bunch of cute Fat Birdies! Some will be gifts and some will be put in the Etsy shop.

Have a great day everyone!

I've seen that yarn and wanted to try it out but I just left it. :(

Yeah I think the sugar and cream is nice and pretty colors too but it does separate and fray too much!

I too go to bed thinking about what I want to make tomorrow... but since I am still working on another granny blanket, that will have to wait!

Have a great weekend!
